“Who would have guessed?” Lawrence, KS
Last weekend, two Chords & Oilers visited the Percolator in Lawrence to see a slideshow and a spray paint demo from the Black Sheep Art Collective.
Saturday evening, the Black Sheep showed a slide show of the murals they’ve done this summer. They’ve done one mural a week! Their work was fascinating; most of it incorporating elements of indigenous peoples’ history and culture.
On Sunday, Cy, Ave, and Jeff showed us how different spray tips work, how to make a stencil cap, and some basic technique for spray painting. After the introduction, while the group of us worked on our own pieces, Cy and Ave made a couple of Percolator-inspired pieces on the side of the building.
It was great to collaborate with another art collective, and to experience some of their perspective firsthand.
